Gavin has joined Grant and Daddy for their evening ritual of watching Sponge Bob Square Pants before heading off to bed. Gavin, or course, doesn't quite know how GREAT Sponge Bob is yet, but Grant was sure to explain everything to him so that he could enjoy it too. Gavin had a great time with Daddy and Grant, but he doesn't think he's quite ready to join them on a regular basis. He tells me that he just can't handle all the fun that they have, and he feels like a third wheel on their bicycle! But, he did enjoy spending time with Grant and leaning on him when he got comfortable. Maybe he'll join in the fun once he gets a little bit bigger! For now, I think he's going to stay with Mommy and spend that time with me! I'll take every bit of time with him that I can ... because once he decides to join the boys upstairs, the time I get during the week is going to dwindle! According to Grant, "Mommy can't come upstairs!" and join in one their bonding ritual!
Remember how Mork from Ork came to this planet as well as Baby Merth?? Well, Grant reminded me of that show when he said, "Mommy .... look at me ... I'm in an egg!" How he thinks that a basketball resembles an egg is beyond me, but this little man has quite an imagination.Later that day, Grant's "egg" came tumbling down the stairs full of toys which exploded onto the floor once it got down to the bottom of its travels. I really had to laugh because I couldn't understand what possessed him to toss his "egg" down the stairs! Todd, of course, couldn't believe how I could think that this was funny! But, when you hear, "Bombs Away!", see all his toys bursting out of this "egg" of his, and here him say, "And stay there, you are soooo bad!", I just couldn't help buy laugh. I don't know why! Maybe I was exhausted ... maybe it just took me so off guard that I didn't know WHAT to think .... all I know is, I couldn't look him in the face and yell at him because I started laughing! And where do you think he heard, "and stay there ... you are sooooo bad!" ?!?!?!? Yeah, I'm sure it was me! So .... maybe I just heard how ridiculous that phrase sounds! He can be soooo bad, but to hear his tone and think back to when I said it .... he was reenacting it on his toys with the exception of being tossed down the stairs!
We have had our first round of Pink Eye with Grant this week. Tuesday he woke up with his eyes crusted shut, and his eyes were all itchy. As soon as I saw them, I said "uh oh ... we have Pink Eye." Todd, of course, just thought it was a cold, but as they day went by and we were waiting for his doctor appointment, it went to the next eye. The doctor agreed with me.The kicker though .... They give you drops to put in his eyes. DROP! For a three year old?!?!?!? Yeah, you try putting drops in a three year old's eyes. The very first drop was easy as pie. But, I guess that these sting a bit ... so, getting drops in those eyes the first day was darn near impossible! But, other than the little fits when I tried to get drops in his eyes, he was sweet as pie. But, with him not taking those drops very well the first day, he stayed home again from school yesterday. Todd stayed home with him yesterday. I guess the sweetness was gone because Todd says that he had to pull him out of the dryer, he screamed all day, didn't use the potty once ... he was just your run of the mill DEVIL!Today ... he is off to school, and he couldn't get me out of the day care fast enough! He was sooo happy to be there! Let's just hope that this Pink Eye is all cleared up!
Gavin went for his two month check up yesterday! That poor little guy had to get FOUR shots! I felt so bad for him! He was so happy during the entire appointment ... talking, smiling ... have a great time! Then the nurse came in .... and then you get "the look" when they first get stuck with the needle. They go from totally happy and unexpecting to this total look of shock. Then that lower lip folds under ... the eyes get sad ... and then it hits! The screams of pain! Oh how horrible I felt for him! But, he is all vaccinated! His new stats: He weighed in at 14 lbs 13oz and is now 25 inches long!! Unreal!
Not to brag ... but I do believe that Grant has inherited my ability to find "the technicality". I don't know where he started to hear this word ... either in some of his night time cartoons (Jimmy Neutron, Spongebob Square Pants, etc.) or if he's just heard it around the house, but lately, Grant has been saying the word "stupid". We, obviously, don't really like him to use that word, and tell him "We don't say that word". Grant will then say "We don't say that 'stupid word', right mama?" Well, Grant has started saying "Awww Darn it!". So, the other day, he says ... "Awww, Stupid!" I said, "Grant, we don't say that word." He says, "I didn't say 'Stupid' mama. I said 'Awwwstupid'. " Smarty pants got me there .... technically he didn't say stupid! Little stinker!
This had to be the coolest Easter morning yet! Before Church, Grant had to go downstairs and check out what the Easter Bunny left for him! He couldn't believe his eyes when he found the first egg, and from there he was all over the place looking for more! The Easter Bunny was really good at hiding eggs at Grant's eye level, so that it wasn't too difficult for him to find them. They were not real obvious, but yet, they weren't all that subtle either. Grant even found one in his big boy potty! Not to worry - it's clean, and hasn't been used in quite some time since Grant thinks that it's too small for him now ... he's a big boy!
Tada! Grant's first find .... This was the prized orange egg that caught his eye first! He was so excited when he found it! I couldn't believe how exciting he was to hunt for eggs! "Oh look....another one!" ... "The Easter Bunny hid an egg in my shoe!" ... "Silly Easter Bunny, he put an egg in my potty!"
Grant found his Easter basket in the potty! He was so excited to find the two eggs filled with stickers and Jelly Beans, a cool new toilet paper for his big boy potty, a Superman action figure, bubbles, and some Bob the Builder videos (which the Easter Bunny hid on Grant's bed some how!)! Superman went everywhere with us ... even to Church! All that excitment ... and I didn't even THINK to videotape it! Dang it!Happy Easter! Love, the Males
This was the first Easter that Grant and I got to dye eggs together! We had a great time .... he was a little impatient with the length of time necessary to dye an egg to the perfect color, but I let him do it however he thought was best. As soon as he got the egg into the water it was time to take it out! It had to be the fastest egg dying project EVER! When daddy came home that evening, he was so excited to show him the eggs he had colored with mommy! Easter Bunny, come and hide 'em!
This weekend was so nice! We decided to spend the day outside working on the yard with the boys. Grant got a little bored with that and decided that he needed to ride his bike. He did so well! Last year he wasn't good with the pedaling, but this year .... he was awesome! He takes off down the driveway and "brrrrruummmms" his way down. "Here I go!", he'll say -- pedaling as fast as he can!
After riding his bicycle for a bit, he decided that he was ready to attempt his Christmas gift. He got into the Hummer, buckled himself in and took off! We thought the battery must have drained since we haven't used it since Christmas, but then Todd decided to put it into 2nd gear! WHOA ... Grant went flying ... right into the side of Todd's car! He has a little bit of trouble with the stearing of this car, but he'll get the hang of it, I'm sure!
I'm sorry ... but I had to share this picture too! I totally love the photos of the three guys together! They are just so happy! Of course, Gavin looks a little confused by what was so exciting or funny during this photo opp, but hey ... until he can understand he'll probably just assume that we are all crazy!I do believe that when Grant was this age, he too looked at us like we were just the biggest bunch of nuts!
I'm not exactly sure what super power this gives him, but yet once again ... THIS made him into a Super Hero! Yes, those are his big boy pants! Perhaps it gives him the ability to wet like no one has wet before?!?!? It was better when you could see his whole face peeking through the leg of the big boy pants ... he looked a little like an egg head, but he was cute!Maybe his destiny is to be a Super Hero?? An Entertainer?? I'm not quite sure, but I am sure that this little man definitely has one heck of a personality! I wonder if I'm going to come home to oil painted side walks ... hand made cranes?? I'm not sure, but he'll definitely keep life interesting with all of his crazy thoughts and that wonderful personality that he has!PS .... the big boy pants .... they were clean when he put them on his head!
