Not the best picture of Gavin in his new horse towel, but this was Gavin after his bath last night! I just totally love this towel, and it makes him look so darn cute! After his "photo shoot" he ate some cereal and a 6 oz bottle and HE SLEPT THROUGH THE NIGHT again! Whoo Hoo! Could this be the beginning of nights full of sleep for mommy and daddy?? That would be so nice considering in a little over a week, I will be going back to work! He's not too far behind Grant. Grant was sleeping through the night at 3 weeks old, and Gavin was 6 1/2 weeks old when he started ... but I'm so thrilled that it looks like we are on the right track! Go Gavin!

The Boys

After Gavin's bath last night, Tod gathered up the boys .... and I just had to take this picture! Grant has the best smile ... and Gavin ... well, he doesn't look too thrilled to be there, but at least he is looking in my direction!

After this picture, Grant and I went to watch Superman II. We had watched the first Superman at my parents' house this past weekend, and Grant seems to think that I should know what's going to happen just like Dzia Dzia. I don't know how many questions I was asked about what Superman was going to do next. I had to explain to him that mommy doesn't know the movies like Dzia Dzia and I didn't know what was going to happen next.

More big news about Grant ... He will be joining the P-2 room (the next step up from the Toddler room at daycare) starting April 10th! He is so excited about that because the kids in that room are bigger and he can play more with them. The infant room has been graduating so many kids to the toddler room lately, that Grant gets a little frustrated because the kids are so much smaller than he is and they can't play. Well, they can't play with Grant! They are too small and not as "athletic" as Grant. Now, he will get to play with the "big kids" and he is just really thrilled! I'm happy for him, and am hoping that this will really kick his potty training into gear! He'll see that "big kids" do all their business in the potty and he'll want to too!

Is it really 6:00 am???

Those were my exact thoughts when I woke up in a panic this morning! I couldn't have slept through Gavin getting up in the middle of the night! Had I?!?!? Oh what a horrible mother ... and the monitor is right by my ear! I tapped Todd on the shoulder to wake him up and began apologizing to him for sleeping through Gavin's feeding when Todd uttered the most wonderful words I've heard in a while .... "Nope, Gavin SLEPT!" Holy Cow! Could it be?!?!? Gavin slept through the night! We put him down around 9:30 and he didn't get up until 6:30!!! Oh my WORD! I hope it isn't a fluke, but I'm definitely NOT going to count on the same luck tonight, but I will definitely pray for the same result.

Gotta Love the Smile!

Gavin has a "tummy time" toy that doubles as a "on my back" toy! Yesterday I dug it out of the basement (since it was originally Grant's) and Gavin just had the BEST TIME with it! He loved to watch the lights go on an off and listen to his music. There is also a little mirror that he can look into and check himself out. He had so many smiles and talked my ear off! I just had to capture one of his little smiles on film ... and it isn't one of the biggest he's given me, but it sure is better than the crying and unhappiness I've been getting today! I don't know if it was his week with Dzia Dzia and Buschi or the fact that I am having the WORST time entertaining him all day! But, he wants to stay awake most of the day, and when he does fall asleep, I put him in his cradle with the hopes that I will be able to get some work around the house done (clean, laundry, etc.). WRONG! Within like 15 minutes, he is crying to get out of there -- he's not hungry, no dirty diaper .... just wants to be held. I just hope I can break him of that within the next two weeks before he heads off to day care. There are going to be 5 new infants in there at the same time, and I don't think they are going to be able to hold him all day long!

Grant Loves Emily's Shoes ...

I don't know what it is about Emily's shoes ... but Grant has to put them on whenever he sees them! Sunday he was walking around in his Superman big boy pants and Emily's shoes saying he was a Super Hero! I don't know .... something about adding an additional article of clothing ... or an empty popcorn tin makes him think he has super powers! Crazy little boy!

Basement Construction

I was able to get a glimpse of our little construction worker working in the basement this weekend! He is using Dzia Dzia's REAL drill and doing quite a good job at it. He holds the drill to make sure that it goes in straight, but has a problem getting the drill back out of the board ... That is Dzia Dzia's job!

The next thing that he needs to do after drilling the holes into the board is to grab his trusty "Bob the Builder" hammer and pound nails into the holes ... Dzia Dzia is such a good assistant! He puts his finger under the board to make sure that the nail goes all the way through! Can you believe how trusting he is of the Grant Man! I mean, if he is carrying any of Dzia Dzia's genes (who has been known to nail his own thumb to a board), he should really be more careful with Grant -- He's just learning!

Grant man even has the trade mark "plumber butt" of a construction worker! Those are his big boy pants sticking out! I tell you ... There is nothing like watching him learn ... and to hear him tell you about what he did and be excited to show you! I can't wait to see all of his other accomplishments!

Super WHAT?!?!?

Grant has this idea that by putting a popcorn tin on his head, he turns into a "Super Hero"! He runs around the room saying "Super Heeeeeero!" Then, he'll walk up to the dog and smack him saying "I'm the super hero ... Jackson is the bad guy"! Odd bird .... But we did get to get a glimpse of the masked man in one of the rare removals of the tin can that he uses to cleverly conceal his identity!

Tah Dah! Here is the little Super Hero .... He sure looks serious, doesn't he? I'm sure he is contemplating how is going to take out his arch enemy, Jackson, tomorrow! That's our Little Super Hero!

Little Men Update!

We took Gavin to the pediatrician for his one month visit today ... Yes, ONE MONTH! I can't believe how fast it goes!

One month after he came into this world at 9 lbs 6 oz and 21 1/2 inches ... Gavin weighed in at 12 lbs 4 oz and 22 1/4 inches! Unbelievable!

He is doing better sleeping through the night. We aren't quite there, but he IS getting close! He had one shot today, but did very well with it! He calmed down rather quickly! He is definitely a strong little boy. The doctor commented on how well he had control of his head and that he is focusing really well. So, we were really pleased!

Grant, on the other hand, is making strides in his potty training! We are very pleased with his progress this weekend! He was in big boy pants all day yesterday and he only had two accidents! Friday, he got a sticker from day care because he used the potty all day and had the SAME Pull Up on that he had when he got there! He also tried to "poopy on the potty" -- and was successful! Sure, he had to have TOTAL privacy while he was doing it, but once he was done, he made an announcement and made both Todd and I come and see it! Saturday, he also had some success with his "poopy on the potty"! We are so proud of him! We think that he is on his way! He definitely wants to do it now -- he's TRYING (which is WAY better than his out and out refusal to do it)! Let's keep our fingers crossed!

Safety First

It appears that Grant has inherited his Dzia Dzia's safety genes! He makes sure that when he is working, he has a pair of goggles on. For Christmas, Santa brought him quite a few Home Depot tools (each one comes with it's own pair of goggles). Grant makes sure that he has a pair of goggles for each tool that he is using (Yes ... he has been known to wear more than one pair of goggles at a time)! He just puts the goggles where ever they will fit!

Dzia Dzia is working on finishing his basement, and he has brought Grant down there to watch and to "work" with him. He has shown Grant how to install outlets, drill holes, hammer nails, use a staple hammer, remove the staples with a screw driver ... the list goes on. Grant has gotten to the point where on Sunday's he has to wear his "work clothes" and take his tools to Dzia Dzia's so that he can "help Dzia Dzia work in the basement". He loves to help in the basement! He has even told anyone who will listen what he does there! For instance, this weekend, he "drilled holes all the way to the bottom and put screws in it!" That's his story and he's sticking to it!

While I'm sure that my dad doesn't get as much work done as he would like when Grant is there, I really think that they have a great time together! I know that Grant treasures that time because he talks about it the whole week after! I hope that Grant retains all of what Dzia Dzia teaches him ... and I hope that Dzia Dzia goes over all the outlets that Grant worked on before closing them up and calling it a day!

Time Out for Mommy

Don't get me wrong ... I LOVE spending time with my boys, and I'm enjoying spending the eight weeks that I get from work with Gavin. But, I have to admit ... I LIVE for these moments! It allows me to get some needed relaxation (on days that I am a little stressed or even tired), or to get some house work done! These moments may only last 20 minutes ... but they are a precious 20 minutes!

Todd and I have come up with a new plan for those "middle of the night" feedings, and I really do like it! I went to bed last night at 8:00! Yes .... 8:00. The deal is this: I go to bed when Grant goes to bed, and Todd stays up as late as he wants, but between the hours of 8:00 pm and 1:00 am, Todd is responsible for all of those feedings. Then from 1:00 am and on ... I am responsible for the feedings. Well, I got up at 5:30! Yes!! I ended up with a FULL NIGHT of rest! I couldn't believe it! Even though it is taking my body a little time to figure out what on earth it's going to do with all that sleep, I really enjoyed it! Todd has decided that he is going to just sleep on the couch and keep Gavin downstairs with him (in his cradle) until he goes to bed so that the monitor doesn't bother me ... and you know, that really worked out nice! I didn't hear a thing!

I think I'm going to like this new plan ....

Gavin's First Office Visit

Today, Gavin and I went to see Dzia Dzia for lunch. We went to the office for the first time! Gavin was the hit of the day, and made a lot of people very happy this afternoon. As you can see, Shirley looks awfully happy and content putting aside the daily work load to feed my little man! He was so happy with her. He just ate like a champ and fell right to sleep in her arms!

Dzia Dzia was sure to get his holdings in today as well! He made sure that he rocked him to sleep before lunch and before I left. He sure does love to spend time with Gavin!

Gavin had his first visit to a Chinese restaurant (his first "lunch" for that matter), he sat in on his first conference call today (although he ate through most of it!), and he got to visit our office for the first time and meet a ton of new people! I'm sure that he will enjoy going back to see them all again!

I definitely enjoyed getting out of the house and spending time with my dad and Gavin! It gets a little boring here at home, and like Shirley said today, "You can only clean sooo much in a house!" Today was my scheduled "refrigerator cleaning", but that will happen tomorrow. It's pretty pathetic when in my first week of actually being able to do things I end up cleaning the entire house and then deciding that the INSIDE of my refridgerator needs to be cleaned as well! Who would have thought that???

Both Gavin and I look forward to "lunching" with the office again! Like Shirley said, maybe we should do this once a week! I'm all for that! I would be sure to have at least ONE outing during the week!
