Until recently, I didn't realize the power that children have on people. I know that I have seen and experienced how children change your life. We went from a pretty easy life to hectic in no time when our oldest son, Grant, was born. Then we decided we wanted to have another child. Even though one of Todd's friends has told him a MILLION times, "Stop at one", we wanted to have more than one child. Now, I have seen our family change drastically making the transition from one child to two -- it is totally different! Easier in one respect because you know what to expect, but then again it's difficult because you now have two children. One that requires your constant care and attention (except for the 20 minute periods he is napping during the day), and another that used to get all of your attention trying to get that attention back. This is the extent of my experience on how children change your life. Until this picture ....When I first saw this photo, I told my mom that my dad reminded me of someone, but I just couldn't put my finger on it. When she told me that she hadn't seen that look on his face in a long time, I realized .... My dad reminded me of my dad. It has been quite a long time since I've seen so much happiness in my dad's face. His whole face is smiling! Our family has gone through many changes over the past couple of years, and to see something going back to "normal" (whatever that is ... ) is really nice. This picture takes me back to before -- and it's good to see.
Grant and his Uncle Danny sure do have a good time together! When Danny comes over, Grant picks the most complicated toy to take out and make Danny help him put it together or build! Last week when Danny was here, we had to take out the train. But, Danny figured out WHY we could only get the train to travel across half of the track -- I have been putting the switch tracks in backward! Sometimes I sure wonder about myself! I put it together with the picture too!
Uncle Danny even likes to hold little babies! He looks so happy with his new nephew! Some day I think that he will make a great dad, because he is always really good with our boys. I'm sure that some day, Gavin will get his Uncle Danny to do all the things that Grant does! And Uncle Danny will do it WILLINGLY!
I am finally following through with an idea that my husband and I have had for quite some time! Rather than having to email photos to this monstrous list and having to phone everyone to fill them in on the latest and greatest regarding our two sons, we are going to use this website to update as many people as we can! We have recently (February 10th) added to our family. Gavin Adam Male came into the world to join us and his big brother, Grant Matthew. Grant has been a huge help with his little brother, and we are hoping that they will grow to be great friends as they get older! Grant loves to hold his brother and help with the feeding! He is always curious about what Gavin is doing and where he is at! We hope that this website will help keep everyone updated and look forward to sharing our photos!
